USS FLORIKAN was the third CHANTICLEER - class Submarine Rescue Ship and the first ship in the Navy to bear the name. Decommissioned on August 2, 1991, and stricken from the Navy list on September 3, 1991, the FLORIKAN is since then laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, Calif., awaiting final disposal.
