USS ALBERT DAVID was the ninth ship in the GARCIA - class of frigates. Commissioned as a destroyer escort, the ALBERT DAVID was redesignated as FF 1050 on June 30, 1975. Decommissioned on September 18, 1989, the ALBERT DAVID was leased to Brazil the same day, and was recommissioned as PARÁ. Brazil officially purchased the ALBERT DAVID on January 24, 2001, and she was stricken from the Navy list the same day.
