USS THUNDERBOLT is the 12th CYCLONE - class coastal patrol boat. Between March and July 1998, she served in the US Coast Guard as USCGC THUNDERBOLT (WPC 12) for an operational evaluation program and from November 2001 on, the CYCLONE - class ships were temporarily operated under US Coast Guard control for homeland defense.
