Named after the city in Alabama whose name is derived from the Indian word meaning “great swamp”, the OPELIKA is one of the NATICK - class large harbor tugs and the first ship in the Navy to bear the name. Initially stationed at Subic Bay, Philippines, the OPELIKA later moved to Yokosuka, Japan, where she is still serving.
