Amphibious Assault Ships - LHA/LHD

The primary war-fighting mission of the Amphibious Assault Ships is to maintain what the Marine Corps calls "tactical integrity" - getting a balanced force to the same place at the same time. These ships are able to land and sustain United States Marines on any shore during hostilities while at the same time serving as the centerpiece of a multi-ship Amphibious Readiness Group (ARG) respectively Expeditionary Strike Goup (ESG).
